vMy Adventure with Covid19 - Part 5

Sleep- it is not over rated.  Through my whole time dealing with Covid19, getting sleep has been an issue. I never thought hat I would have issues getting enough sleep. Getting sleep has been quite a challenge. Now I have had trouble getting enough sleep. I often catch myself dozing off sometime during the day.

Fortunately for me, last night was the exception.  I got more sleep last night than I have in a couple of months. Part of the issue is the fact I was in the hospital so long.  I don’t know about you, but for me getting sleep at all was a huge challenge while I was in the hospital was quite a challenge. I catch myself dozing off when things are slow, but I don’t want to sleep during the day.  I want to sleep at night.

While it can be productive to do things at 4am, I would rather get on a schedule of sleeping during that time.

My Adventure with Covid19 - Part 4

Well, the twenty-three days I initially was in the hospital was a tough time.  I could not be “visited” by anyone.  The only folks I got to see were the doctors and nurses caring for me.  These were all fine folks.  One nurse that previously had covid19 had no sense of taste or smell.  That is one thing that never happened to me, so I consider myself as blessed.

On March 6,2021 I was finally got out of the ICU.  I was in regular hospital room. Why was this a big deal?  I could finally go to the bathroom on my own.  Also I could get a shower. Those were great milestones for me.  You don’t realize how much you can miss simple things until you are deprived of them.

I will just stop here and say that the food in the hospital was not bad at UTMB Clear Lake. They did have a fondness for serving broccoli at least once per day.  I will admit that having coffee every day turned me into a regular coffee drinker.  There are worse things that could have happened to me.

My Adventure with Covid19 - Part 3

Well, I had a long stay the first time I was in the hospital. I checked in on February 15,2021.  I checked out on March 11,2021. Twenty- three days I spent some time in the hospital.  Covid19 had left me very weak.   I would get encouragement when I would see m oxygen levels in my blood increase.

Covid19 gave me a very special gift.  That gift is diabetes. I was not diabetic before I got sick.  Now, I am a diabetic.  This is all new to me. So now I get to pay close attention to what I eat.  I test my blood every morning. I watch my blood sugar levels change from over 300 when I was first in the hospital to a low of 119 before I left the hospital.  That is quite a change,

Speaking of diabetes, they showed me how to give myself shots with a normal syringe. However, when I checked out, they gave me a “pen” to give myself shots that I dial in how much insulin to inject.  This was all new to me and I  had zero training on this.  The good thing is that it is an easy process to learn.

Covid19 gave me another special gift.  I lost significant weight while in the hospital. I lost about 40 pounds.  This ended up being very good for my blood pressure.  At least one good thing came from me getting Covid19.

There is more to come about the stay in the hospital I will work o tat post for next time.

More to come later.  Stay safe!

My "Adventure" with Covid19 - Part 2

TThis is how it all started for me. On February 11 or 12th, I am not real sure was when I started to get extremely sick. This was right after the "big freeze" of 2021. I had been working before all the time, and I thought I had been exposed in all my public dealings with Covid19, so I figured I had some immunity. Boy was I wrong.

After a few days of being quite sick, my wife insisted that I go to the hospital. On February 15, I went to the UTMB in Angleton, apparently, they either were not taking new Covid19 patients, or their allotment of Covid19 beds was full. I was transferred to UTMB Clear Lake right away.

The first few days are pretty fuzzy in my mind, as I was really out of it mentally speaking. I believe of the first or 2nd day I was there in the hospital, I got up and took all of the things I was connected to equipment off. I wandered around my hospital room dazed and confused. This was the beginning of a new journey for me. I was so sick, that I had no idea exactly how sick I really was. At the time, I could not think clearly at all. I could not remember what I had done that day, or conversations that I had already had.>p? This was just the beginning of a long and hard recovery, and I really had no idea want awaited me in this process.

Covid19 Has Been a Challenge

I have experiencedquite a time withCovid19.Idecided to chronicle my experience with this pesky disease. Just to give you a tease of what is to come, I have been to the hospital 3 times.I have 28 days in the hospital, allCovid related. This has been quite an experience. Many changes have taken place for me and in my life. It will still be some time before I get back to "normal." I won't be able to work in the classic sense for at least a few more weeks. for the next several days I will chronical these events in this blog. I am hoping it will be a bit therapudic for me as well. All the best until next post.

What Everyone Needs to Know About Background Checks

I recently received a call about background checks.  The potential client wanted a background check run on them to find out why they weren't hired, and the potential employer told them it was because of the background check.  The potential employer did not say anything specific.

Here is the rub. They are required by law to tell the potential employee why:

"You must be told if information in your file has been used against you(emphasis mine) Anyone who uses a credit report or another type of consumer report to deny your application for credit, insurance, or employment – or to take another adverse action against you – must tell you, and must give you the name, address, and phone number of the agency that provided the information."  (Taken from A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act from the FTC)
It cannot be spelled out any more clear than that.  Also, as a company that conducts the backgroud check, that company is required to inform the person that the check was conducted upon to notify that person.

Duties of users taking adverse actions (emphasis mine) on the basis of information contained in consumer reports. If any person takes any adverse action with respect to any consumer that is based in whole or in part on any information contained in a consumer report, the person shall (1) provide oral, written, or electronic notice of the adverse action to the consumer;

Here is one of the key reasons - you have a right to dispute anything in the background check that may be negative.

"You have the right to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information. If you identify information in your file that is incomplete or inaccurate, and report it to the consumer
reporting agency..."
The bottom line is - if you have been turned down for employment, rental of property, or anything else because of background check - you have a right to know.

Very Odd Parts to the Pipe Bombs Sent Out to Former Democratic Leaders

This whole Pipe-Bomb activity seems suspicious at best.  If someone is doing these acts of terror, they should be arrested immediately and the full force of the law should come down on them.

Why do I say if?  Because all of the envelops shown on the news show packages without the common post office cancelled stamps.  Also, the $3.00 of stamps would not be enough to mail out the metal pipe bombs shown in the photos.  It would not be nearly enough.

Personally, I have never received any package through the US Mail without some sort of Post office markings on them.

Here are 3 of the photos that took me all of 15 minutes of internet search to find them (I am sure there are more):

These are all from screen shots

Even the left leaning New York Times expresses doubt about these packages. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/24/nyregion/clinton-obama-explosive-device.html
